I thought it will end up like any other American movies. about a reckless family at the edge of their destruction. just like Charlize's Monster Ball. gosh I hate that movie!

well, it started out just like that.

Joleen (Charlize Theron) is a mother of a 12 year old Tara (Anna Sophie Robb) whose father's in jail for drugs. Joleen has to struggle for money since Tara has to go to school. Or Tara will be kept by the social services. Joleen's greatest idea is to call her brother, James, so that they could stay at his place.

James is somewhat unemployed. He worked by project. and Tara is giving him a hard time since Joleen suddenly left. James got fired and the Social Services got Tara.

but James just can't let this happen.

so the journey of uncle and niece begin. since they're out of money, James decided to go to his dad's ranch. Ignoring the fact that his dad is abusive.

despite all the down low they've been through. James, Tara and Joleen has just started their day. It was the first day of the rest of their lives...
